First visit and prevention

How to start your child's relationship with the dentist on the right foot, and how to avoid cavities before they appear.

The first visit to the dentist sets how your child will experience every visit afterwards. At Bites Odontopediatría we make it early, short and procedure-free: we get to know them, they get to know us, and we review the basics together. Cavities in primary teeth do get treated, they do matter, and they are prevented through hygiene from the first tooth, six-month check-ups and mindful diet.

Frequently asked questions

At what age should my child go for the first time?

Ideally at the first birthday or when the first tooth erupts, whichever comes first. The visit is short, we talk with you and review hygiene, habits and development. No procedure.

Is it really worth treating cavities in baby teeth?

Yes. Primary teeth hold space for the permanent ones, are part of speech and feeding, and an untreated cavity can infect the permanent tooth germ underneath. Not treating them is not a neutral option.

How do we prevent cavities before they appear?

Hygiene from the first tooth with a soft brush and fluoride toothpaste (age-appropriate amount), avoid night-time bottle with milk or sugary liquids, six-month check-ups, and reduce free sugars in daily diet. Four points, simple and consistent.

Have a specific case? We'd love to evaluate it together.
