Pediatric Dental Emergencies

Emergency care for dental trauma, acute pain, infections, and accidents in children.

Dental accidents in children are more common than we think. A blow to the teeth, a fall, or sudden pain can cause a lot of distress for both the child and the parents. At Bites, we are prepared to handle pediatric dental emergencies quickly and effectively, prioritizing the child's well-being and guiding the family every step of the way.

How does it work?

In a dental emergency, the first step is to contact us via WhatsApp or phone. We will assess the situation and give you immediate instructions while scheduling an emergency appointment as soon as possible. At the appointment, we perform a complete clinical and radiographic exam to evaluate the damage. Depending on the case, treatment may include reimplantation of avulsed teeth, splinting, fracture treatment, pain management, or infection control. We explain the prognosis and necessary follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if my child's permanent tooth is knocked out?

Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (never by the root), and if possible, gently reimplant it in place. If you can't, place it in cold milk or in the child's mouth (between the cheek and gum). Contact us immediately: time is critical to saving the tooth.

Can a blow to a baby tooth affect the permanent tooth?

Yes, depending on the severity of the blow and the child's age. Trauma to a baby tooth can affect the developing permanent tooth underneath. That's why it's always important to have it evaluated.

When should I seek emergency care?

Seek emergency care for: broken or fractured teeth, teeth knocked out by a blow, intense pain, facial swelling, bleeding that won't stop, or dental abscess.
