Orthodontics and dental development
When to start, what interceptive orthodontics is, and how to use the child's growth windows.
Waiting until age 12 to start orthodontics is no longer the only option. Interceptive orthodontics lets us intervene while the maxilla is still growing, guide dental development and avoid long treatments in adolescence. At Bites Odontopediatría we assess development from the first visit and discuss when starting makes sense and when it doesn't.

Frequently asked questions
When is the first orthodontic evaluation?
Ideally around 6-7 years, when the first molars and permanent incisors start to erupt. At that age we can identify space issues, crossbite or habits worth treating early.
What is interceptive orthodontics?
It's a short, early treatment (between 6-9 years) that corrects issues while the maxilla is still developing. It doesn't replace adolescent orthodontics, but often simplifies and shortens it significantly.
Have a specific case? We'd love to evaluate it together.
