Complex Restorative Treatment

Comprehensive dental rehabilitation for children with extensive damage from cavities, trauma, or enamel defects. In office or operating room.

Some children arrive at our office with extensive dental damage: multiple advanced cavities, teeth fractured by trauma, or structural enamel defects. At Bites, we address these cases comprehensively, designing a rehabilitation plan that restores the child's function, aesthetics, and oral health. Depending on the extent and the patient's cooperation, treatment can be performed in the office (with or without sedation) or in the operating room under general anesthesia.

How does it work?

We begin with a complete diagnosis including clinical exam, X-rays, and digital scanning when needed. We design a sequential treatment plan that prioritizes the teeth with the greatest urgency. Treatments may include composite resin restorations, preformed crowns, pulpotomies (nerve treatment), extractions, and space maintainers. In cases requiring multiple procedures or with very young/uncooperative children, we perform complete rehabilitation in a single operating room session under general anesthesia, in coordination with a pediatric anesthesiologist.

Frequently asked questions

When is operating room treatment recommended?

When multiple teeth need treatment, when the child is very young (under 3 years) or cannot cooperate in the office, or when the extent of treatment would make it unfeasible across multiple outpatient sessions.

Is general anesthesia safe for children?

Yes, when administered by a pediatric anesthesiologist in an appropriate hospital setting. We carefully evaluate each case and coordinate with the medical team to ensure maximum safety.

Will restored baby teeth last until they fall out naturally?

In most cases, yes. The restorations and crowns we place are designed to last until the baby tooth naturally exfoliates and is replaced by the permanent one.
